Fall in the illahe
Well it was truly a long hot summer, blasting heat waves, no rain for months on end and the air conditioner that as a kid was an obsolete item in our lives of mild summers was running more than it should have. It’s returned to the cool temps of fall and it’s most welcome indeed. The nursery stock is running low on a lot of items but we will keep shipping as long as these wonderful mild temps exist. With the changeable inventory I may recommend one of our box collections for the best selection as we have inventory of larger plants and specialty items that aren’t listed under the current availability. It’s our choice on plants, and you may get a mix of bulbs, bareroot plants, potted specimens in several sizes and if you let us know your interests we will do our best to tailor to your taste. Bent over the pork barrel:
They say don’t mix business with politics, but this current political situation has been eating at me so much now I just can’t sit silent here on my forum. I think the whole world is over the Con man and his never ending drolling of hate speech and lies and he is just running to keep himself out of jail where he belongs for the rest of his life. It’s probably only the Rupert Murdoch/Elon Musk/Putin voices and money giving him any real play. I would like to say I rest a bit easier feeling that American’s are really at heart a better people than that.
It sucks to live in fear but as a small business owner that’s all you get these days, with the current economic climate it’s a day to day existence. The cost of doing business here is outrageous, the taxes imposed on small business absolutely unreal and it’s no wonder you see a constant shift towards monoplistic, coroporations that have the politicians and bankers on the payroll. I do truly believe that this election, which is only 26 days away as of the writing of this is precipice that will either topple small business and absolutely destroy the middle and lower classes, forever enslaving us to our corporate overlords, or potentially the other option which isn’t perfect but offers some chance of rebuilding as a nation where some semblance of equity is assumed.
Trumps tarriffs will kill my business, completely. They will probably kill most of the nurseries that you love no matter where you are, along with all the mainstreet American business’. We live in a global economy and I produce goods in the USA, I do rely on international trade for supplies and materials. To pretend we can have an economy without international trade is ludicrous. Even if it’s only a few thousand dollars a year, the margins are so slim for most small business that it would be the end of them. The reality is that they just want to tax the middle and lower classes out of existence and Trumps economic plan is absolutely that. To be fair I don’t see the other side offering a perfect solution either, although a small business tax cut would be most welcome. So in the interest of complete and unbiased equality I asked Artificial intelligence what would happen to the small business economy in the USA if either side wins, and here is what it had to say:
What would happen to the small business economy in the US if Trump is elected:
“In summary, the small business economy under a Trump presidency could see a mixed impact. Some small businesses might benefit from lower taxes, deregulation, and easier access to credit, while others could face challenges from tariffs, immigration restrictions, and healthcare policy changes. The overall economic climate, consumer demand, and the global landscape will also play crucial roles in determining the net effect.” Chat GPT
What would happen to the small business economy in the US if Harris is elected:
“If Kamala Harris is elected president, her administration would likely focus on promoting equity, supporting workers, expanding healthcare, addressing climate change, and helping small businesses recover from the pandemic. Small businesses might benefit from increased access to capital, targeted tax relief, and opportunities in the green economy. However, they could face challenges such as higher labor costs, more stringent regulatory requirements, and the need to adapt to a more digital and sustainable economy.” Chat GPT
So there you have it, either way it’s probably going to be tough for small business in the US, but one way offers a chance and honestly, I think you can even detect a hint of anxiety in AI as they say the last line under the Trump option. Even the computers know that is a dangerous path.
26 days remain to know if we live in a free country where opportunity is available to anyone who comes here and wants to work hard and strive for it. Or if it’s handed out to the oligarchs and billionaires to trod on our backs as we keep their Antonia Vietri shoes from the mud and decay of this country and lay down in servitude before Tyrants.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
