“I’ll take things that like heat for 400 Alex”

Whew, mercury touching 110 in the greenhouse today, not sure if I can take it but the plants seem to be standing up to it remarkably well. I’m hoping this heat wave snaps pretty quick, although it is giving me some time to stay inside and work on the catalog/website. To that end I thought I would throw out a quick update and shoot out a few pics of things that love the heat.

Habranthus, Gladiolus and Zephyranthes all popping into bloom this week as the temperatures skyrocket. None seem to be affected by the heat in the least. I want to say a big thank you to Kate-Laurel, a professional data-engineer who heard my complaining about coding and wrote to ask if I needed help with the website. Thanks to her I learned that I can have subcategories organized by genus! They might not be alphabetized but at least you can click through the Genera that will be available.

Catalog update:

I’m hoping to have the website updated with the bulbs that will be for sale by the end of the week. I decided I won’t be shipping plants as the heat of August is just too much that I don’t want to chance sending out the great selection of alpines we have available until it cools down a bit. For now, if you are looking at the website, you might see a bunch of things disappear between then and now as I update quantities. For international folks, I apologize about the cost of international transactions, but the price of the phytosanitary and shipping bulbs just continues to go up. I’ll do my best to accommodate international orders and while no one ever takes me up on this offer, I aways tell folks to pull on order together with friends if you are international because that will save you money and me time (which I am perpetually short on) . Stay tuned for a terms and conditions update that will be posted on the website, I hope everyone reads it. The next time you hear from me the website will be updated and you will be able to make purchases simply by adding them to your cart.

I’m excited about this years offering, I have good quantities of some of our Western Fritillaria including some of all the Fritillaria pudica clones I have offered in the past! Juno Iris’, South African irids like Moraea and Ferraria as well as a ton of great fall bloomers including 4 different species of Sternbergia and 14 different fall and spring blooming Crocus and a large selection of Colchicums, Biarums, and the usual great selection of Narcissus among others!

Cheers,

Mark
