“Rome wasn’t built in a day”

“But they were laying bricks every hour”………..that saying is about as midievil as it gets. It’s been my motto lately as I have had lots of questions about when the spring shipping season will get underway. Honestly I had hoped it would be underway by now, but the new Greenhouse construction has been eating my time, energy and greenbacks like a billionaire in a space race. Ok, that maybe a slight exaggeration but I do have to get the factory built before I can crank up production. I will have some great plants going up to the Hortlandia Sale this coming weekend, so if you are in the area you will want to stop by the booth for sure. After that is over, I promise to get a mail order list out and the website will be updated at that time. I will also be getting the sales area setup here in the next few weeks so if you want to get a visit lined up to the nursery shoot me an email.

Fritillaria gussichae

There is a guy named Hasil Adkins, who is an old time rockabilly musician, his is a funny story that I can relate to. As a kid he was listening to a Hank Williams record and after looking at the dust jacket and seeing that no other musicians were credited on the album, he figured that Hank must have played every instrument. So he set out to learn how to emulate his hero and play every instrument on his musical journey. He became a one man band and he put out some really great music, his song “Turning off a memory” is as classic a country ditty as I have ever heard. Anyway, someone later explained to Hasil that even though no other musicians were listed on that record, Hank hadn’t done the whole thing by himself. Despite having a lot of help from my friends with some of the big construction parts projects, the day to day operations at Illahe are a one man band. I’ve been laying bricks for a rock solid foundation every day now, but I have a little ways to go before my masterpiece is finished and I appreciate the patience and support from customers. I promise the plants are coming!
