The Bulb Shipping Season Has Ended

Thank you to all the customers for a great bulb season, with the cool of autumn and the fall rains here now it’s time to get things planted! With the new website business was better than ever this year and we are so grateful to the new customers and those loyal fans who stuck with us through the blog years! We wish you all happy growing and years of delight from the bulbs you ordered. Just a few more orders to get out the door and then we will be switching gears to get some of the great alpine and rock garden treasures up on the website. If you see something available in the store that means we are currently shipping it. For the best value look at one of our Rock Garden plant collection boxes, we offer free shipping and while you don’t get to pick what’s in it, I assure you they come loaded with fun treasures like a chefs surprise or a mystery bag at the carnival! You can always specify an interest or theme for your box and we will do our best to accomadate it. These are a tremendous value just in time for fall planting!

Nothing says ole’ fashioned like Gloxinia! Believe it or not, it’s the first time I’ve ever grown this wonderful tuberous Gesneriad. It was slow to get going but looks great on the patio with the pumpkins all ready to take a turn as king of the season!

We will also be adding a few winter shipped bulbs that we haven’t offered in past years. When they are dormant, look for some showy lilies and rare Tigridia’s to come up for sale on the website. We do have a lot of work planned for over winter, hopefully finishing the propagation greenhouse in time for the busy times of Spring. Check out the gallery for some fun fall shots around illahe nursery and gardens.

Thanks again, to all the customers who bought bulbs and plants this season, we are excited to bring you even more great treasures in the future! I’ll probably fill your inboxes with some cool plant bio’s as we get into the thick of the fall flowering bulb season. The crocus collection is beginning to peak as we speak. Speaking of speaking, if your garden club or group is looking for a speaker, I have some great talks on everything from Wildflower Adventures around Oregon, to Botanical travels in the Chilean Andes to Alpines of Alaska and even talks on contemporary water issues facing the drought stricken West. If you would like to have me come speak now is a great time to get it booked!

Cheers,

Mark
