Antennaria rosea ssp. confinis
This interesting spp. is of pussytoes has a fantastic rich crimson colored flower bud, on the same compact growth and tough habit. Outstanding for the native rockery, or just any rockery for that matter. Silver foliage does a great job of offsetting dark colored specimen plants so this can work great as a foil below dwarf conifers or even with the dark evergreen foliage of dwarf daphne.
Cultivation:
Thrives in full sun and well-drained, gritty or sandy soil. Drought-tolerant once established, making it ideal for rock gardens, gravel beds, or dry borders. Requires minimal maintenance and spreads slowly to form a low groundcover.
Hardy to USDA zone 2, tolerating extreme cold and harsh winter conditions.
Silver leaved, flat mat forming species, with small white/cream flowers. Perfect for adding the silver leaved mat texture to the crevice garden or rock garden. Excellent moon garden plant.
