A unique sandwort, with it’s stiff, upright prickly, grey green foliage, and delicate starry flowers. This is an illahe introduction from the open basalt cliffs and bluffs of the western Cascade mountains where it grows around 4,000’ in the company of Cheilanthes ferns and mats of sedum spathulifolium, creeping through crevices in rocks. An enchanting crevice garden specimen, this is a slow grower that will form a large woody base giving great ‘structural element’ to it’s planting.

Rarely, if ever seen in cultivation.
