Collomia debilis var. debilis typically grows in open meadows, rocky slopes, and areas with well-drained soil. It is often found in disturbed sites, such as those created by glacial activity or erosion. This is part of why I talk about using glacial rock dust as a soil amendment it's perfect for these species that grow in a rather unique soil situation like glacial till.

This variety prefers sunny locations with moderate moisture but can tolerate the dry conditions often found in alpine meadows. It typically blooms during the warmer months, taking advantage of the brief growing season in these high-elevation habitats.

Thanks to the very talented Claire Cockroft of Bellevue, Washington for propagating these. In this batch of seedlings was a true variegated specimen that I hope to make available soon. This variety has lovely sky blue/lavender flowers, perfect for a crevice/rock garden/trough.
