Geranium dalmaticum
A low-growing, aromatic perennial native to the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. This compact cranesbill forms a dense mat of deeply divided, glossy green foliage that turns a deep and showy bronze-red in autumn. In late spring to early summer, it produces soft pink, five-petaled flowers. Ideal for rock gardens, edging, or ground cover, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant once established.
I like the way this dwarf cransebill has added summer color to the alpine frame, I stressed it good to make it put on a bunch of flowers and stay very compact. But it is easy of culture and can be grown out in the open garden. Great for adding summer pink to the rock or crevice garden.
Hardy in USDA zones 5–8.
