The outstanding dryland garden of Jo Wakelin in Central Otago, New Zealand is where I first saw this plant and the beauty was jaw dropping. Planted en masse, the Silver Tussock grass as it is called, is reminiscent of Stipa. The bronze accents are showy but the drought tolerance and toughness of this grass means it should be more widely used in the landscape. A New Zealand endemic
