Saxifraga hirsuta
A charming, rosette-forming perennial native to western and southwestern Europe, particularly thriving in moist, shaded rocky habitats. Saxifraga hirsuta features softly hairy leaves and delicate white flowers with red-spotted petals in spring. Best grown in cool, shaded rock gardens or crevices with humus-rich, well-drained soil. Prefers consistent moisture and protection from hot sun.
This plant came to me from Bellevues Claire Cockroft who has one of the most amazing shade gardens I have ever seen, her trilliums are absolutely amazing, and I have been lucky to have gotten some of her plants to try my hand at propagating and offering to you. This Saxifrage is perfect for a shady rockery, the charming white panicles of flowers are a delight in the spring season.
Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8.
