Symplocarpus foetidus var. latissimus

Another Asian Skunk Cabbage, this is a very early blooming species, with thick marron spathes and a club like spath. This is a rarity in the horticultural trade, and while it’s not too difficult in containers (size being a limiting factor) in the landscape its a semi-aquatic/marginal plant that is going to want water year around. If you have a creek, or a bog/low wet area year around it might naturalize. Otherwise try a large impervious container like a lined wine barrel with a rich peaty mixture of soil and standing water.

These are going dormant and will be shipped as bareroot rhizomes packed on peat, you can expect the foliage to be senescing and emergence will be next spring.
