Robust, golden bells in early spring. This is a selection was seed grown from Oregon’s John Day river area, famous for its Fossil beds, Painted Hills, interesting geologically and epic bass fishing. I’ve floated the John Day many times in an old wooden boat called a rapid robert that was the precursor to a uniquely Oregon boat the Drift Boat. There are only a few rapids you need to worry about Burnt Ranch being a boulder garden at low water that can be challenging. At this point i’m lost reminiscing about the many late spring/early summer float trips down that wonderful wilderness river, if you ever get the chance go see it! This selection is a nice tall form.
